Summary:
The Compounding Technician is responsible for interpreting formula worksheets and compounding medication using approved equipment and processes.
Technicians are responsible for cleaning and maintaining the compounding equipment.
All duties are performed under the supervision of a Lead Technician and a licensed pharmacist.
The Compounding Technician demonstrates a commitment to the mission of the Pharmacy and goals of Belmar Pharma.
Supervisory
Responsibilities:
This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Elements of the Job:
o Measures, weighs, counts, and compounds medications o Mixes pharmaceutical preparations according to formulation logs o Establishes and maintains accurate patient records by entering correct lot numbers and expiration dates of compounded medications o Maintains proper storage and security conditions for drugs o Packages medications o Cleans and helps maintain equipment and work areas, and cleans glassware according to prescribed methods o Performs to established efficiency metrics while adhering to quality standards o Maintains compliance with Company and HIPAA patient confidentiality requirements o Performs other duties as assigned Essential Skills and
Experience:
o Current CPhT Certification or ability to take CPhT examination as required by state law o Registration with DORA as a licensed technician or provisional license is required upon hire o Compounding and/or laboratory experience preferred o Excellent attention to detail o Good computer skills (data entry, Microsoft Office products, email, internet) o Good math skills are essential o Good manual dexterity o Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment o Ability to maintain a clean workspace o The ability to work independently and use own initiative o An awareness of health and safety regulations o Ability to listen to and follow instructions o Ability to concentrate for long periods of time Typical Working Conditions:
o Pharmacy Technicians will work in a variety of positions and locations such as sitting, standing, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and walking; for prolonged periods of time o Potential exposure to chemicals used in the preparation of compounds (some chemicals are classified as toxic and special safety precautions must be taken when working with these chemicals) o Must be able to use necessary equipment such as computers, scanners, lab equipment or other equipment as assigned o Frequently exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels o Must be able to wear required compounding safety equipment for long periods of time when required Job Type:
