Xcel Energy has a unique opportunity for a part-time internship in our Transmission department located in Golden, CO. This position will start later this summer and work during the school year on a part-time basis. The expectation is that the successful candidate will be available to work 20 hours a week - management will work with the new hire based on their school schedule.This role will provide a student with a great real-world experience and exposure to an engineering setting.
Position
Summary
This internship will focus on transmission business contracts, and will allow the candidate to interface with Transmission Operations, Project Management, Engineering, Transmission Planning and neighboring transmission systems. The candidate selected for this internship will gain business experience and will focus on utility regulations, compliance and contracts. This will afford the candidate the opportunity to understand the different roles and increase overall knowledge of how the electrical system works.
Essential Responsibilities
:
- Assist in responding to inquiries regarding work orders, billings, services, rates, options, etc. when applicable.
- Assist in providing information and support to other departments concerning agreements (historical or current), rates, communications, loads, etc.
- Main responsibilities will include providing assistance with electronic and hard copy records management including scanning, organizing, and filing documents to departmental shared drive and file room; creating template agreements, assist in creating workflow tracker and other administrative tasks.

Requirements
- Must have completed one year of post-High School education (Sophomore or Junior status preferred). No graduate students, please.
- Must have experience with basic Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Prior experience with filing and office administration/support.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
