The work is both sedentary and active, requiring movement throughout the facility and between workstations. Duties may require lifting, carting, and carrying computer equipment such as CPU's, monitors, and printers weighing 20-40 pounds. Work may also involve dexterity required for manipulating small components and tools. In some cases, tasks may require working within confined spaces for short amounts of time. Work may sometimes require bending, crawling, or otherwise gaining access to equipment in concealed or constricted areas. Work sometimes requires intensive concentration. Major Duties:
Oversees the implementation, configuration, and operational management of an integrated system of IT resources including server and data storage resources, peripherals, and IT networking infrastructure. Responsible for systems operations and providing system continuity for IT systems which provide automation support to staff and multiple VA facilities and other government agencies. Analyzes operational processes and develops detailed functional requirements for hardware, operating systems, and networks to support these processes to be used for the development of appropriate systems. Installs, configures, and maintains operating systems and computer programs, often provided by the manufacturer, that are necessary to process applications programs and for the operation of the computer and its peripheral devices. Performs systems analyses functions and troubleshooting, data recovery procedures, and re-initiates systems as necessary to ensure continuing and constant access to data. experience performing IT system administration functions supporting integrated business operations and applying systems engineering concepts such as design, supportability, and reliability sufficient to ensure that applications reflect state-of-the-art technology and functionality. You may qualify based on your experience, as described below:
Experience - Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-12 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes experience configuring and optimizing software; conducting system/server planning, management, and maintenance; and operating system administration (e.g., account maintenance, data backups, maintain system performance, install and configure new hardware/software). Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note:
A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
