As a Social Scientist within the Office of the Associate Director of Natural Hazards, some of your specific duties will include:
-Conducts qualitative data collection and analysis related to the development of hazard preparedness products and tools. -Lead and coordinate stakeholder engagement initiatives to determine user needs, develop products, as well as design training and long-term outreach programs for risk-related projects. -Supports scientific groups with a USGS risk nexus such as the DOI Strategic Sciences Group (SSG) and the Science Application for Risk Reduction project. -Responsibilities include coordinating logistics to enable scientists to respond to hazard events; disseminating results to variousstakeholders. -Supports the Natural Hazards Mission Area by providing guidance to USGS scientists and managers and in establishing best practices and guidelines for community engagement in USGS activities related to the hazards mission. BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Applicants must meet one of the following below to satisfy the basic education requirement for Social Scientist, all grade levels.- Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a behavioral or social science or related discipline appropriate to the position.- A combination of experience and education- course work equivalent to a major (24 semester hours or equivalent) in a behavioral or social science or related discipline. Four years of appropriate experience which demonstrate acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in those fields.For GS-12:
In addition to the basic education requirement as stated above, applicants must meet the following to qualify for the GS-12 level:
One year of appropriate professional experience that is in or directly related to the duties of the position to be filled is qualifying if it is equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service, and if it equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Examples of such experience could include 1) supporting social science projects/studies related to the human dimensions of climate change, e.g., participating in research efforts; 2) collecting and analyzing social and economic data; 3) identifying and analyzing land use issues; 4) measuring human factors associated with natural resources; preparing technical reports. You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements for the position by the closing date of the announcement.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
